Trip Details

Day 1 – Train to Edinburgh | Group Accommodation Check-in | Edinburgh Private Guided Walking Tour

In just under 4.5 hours by train from London, we will have completed our journey to Scotland’s capital city, Edinburgh. A city jam-packed with history and culture going on around the clock!

Check-in and luggage drop at the hostel before we explore the historic Old Town with our private Edinburgh walking tour, giving you a great overview of Edinburgh’s most famous and recognizable landmarks. By the end, you’ll know more about the history of Edinburgh than the average Scot!

Group dinner following the tour, and free time after to explore Edinburgh’s festive night life!

 

Day 2 – Edinburgh Castle & Palace of Holyroodhouse

Following Breakfast our first visit is Edinburgh Castle, one of the most exciting historic sites in Western Europe. Set in the heart of Scotland's dynamic capital city, it is sure to capture your imagination. The scenery will take your breath away. Explore the castle's highlights including the Great Hall, St Margaret’s Chapel and the One o’clock Gun.

After the castle visit we make our way to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, commonly known as Holyrood Palace, it is the official residence of the British monarch in Scotland. Your visit to the Palace includes the State Apartments which are used by the monarch and members of the Royal Family for official ceremonies and events. 

As the home of Scottish royal history, these spectacular rooms have played host to many significant occasions. See the magnificent Great Gallery, where Bonnie Prince Charlie partied, and the remarkable Throne Room, where George IV famously wore Highland dress at a levée or royal reception.

Ample free time after the palace visit to explore Edinburgh city and beyond!

 

Day 3 – Group Accommodation Check-out | Train to London

After breakfast we walk back to Edinburgh Waverly station for the return train to London.

Please aim to arrive at least 10-15mins early, we cannot hold the rest of the group for latecomers!

Don’t forget to bring your own oyster card (with enough credit) and/or contactless card for use on Public Transportation within London during the tour.

 

Running order for the day will be emailed to all participants at least 7days prior to departure for UK day trips, for UK/Overseas weekend trips the running order will be given out at the pre-tour meetup (the meet-up date will be announced once you have booked and paid).

 

A valid University Student ID must be with you at all times and must be supplied/presented upon request – No ID No Entry!

 

It is your responsibility to check in advance that the above tour itinerary and/or timings are suitable for your own plans.

1.     ALL TRAVEL CLUB Tickets are FULLY RESTRICTED / NON-CHANGEABLE / NON-REFUNDABLE / NON-TRANSFERABLE / NON-EXCHANGEABLE / NO-SHOW PENALTIES APPLY. 

2.     All Travel Club UK Day/Weekend trips are subject to availability.

3.     All Travel Club UK Day/Weekend trip tickets are released beginning of each academic term.

4.     All Travel Club Overseas Weekend trips are BY APPLICATION ONLY (check event page for application deadline).

5.     A valid University Student ID must be with you at all times and must be supplied/presented upon request. 

6.     PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP WITH YOUR ACADEMIC EMAIL ADDRESS e.g. myname@KCL.ac.uk. As proof of student status.

7.     If you are unable to produce a valid University Student ID as proof of full-time student status, Travel Club and all tour suppliers involved reserves the right to reject your ticket and admission on the trip, NO REFUND WILL BE DUE. No VALID ID - No Entry, No Exceptions!

8.     AGE RESTRICTION minimum 18yrs+

9.     ALL TRAVEL CLUB TRIP TICKET PURCHASES ARE LIMITED TO ONE TICKET PER STUDENT PER TRIP. Multiple/extra ticket purchases for the same trip will be voided and no refund due.

10.  Please be aware that photography and/or filming will be taking place on all Travel Club Trips for promotional purposes. The photographs and recordings may be used by International Students House for promotional purposes, for example on social media platforms, websites, mobile applications, emails, digital media, or printed materials. If you would prefer not to be photographed or filmed please speak with your Travel Club Trip Group Leader on the day.

NB Each student wishing to attend a Travel Club trip must book and pay separately. Multiple ticket purchases for the same trip on the same order will be voided and no refund due.

 

Once you have paid, as additional proof of student status, all students must complete the Travel Club Mandatory Booking form link at the end of check out via the order status page. This link is also provided on your order confirmation email.
